WORLD WINE FROM South Africa

Wines from South Africa are world famous thanks to their excellent taste, high quality and unique character.The starting point in the development of wine production was the 17th century, when the first governor of the Cape Province (today Cape Town) was a vine. And it turned out that the climate and soil of the South African land are capable of giving an excellent drink. Due to the lack of the necessary education, newly-made wine-makers produced “illiterate” wine, which could hardly compete with eminent brands. That all changed with the arrival of the next governor, Simon van der Stel. He not only knew good wines, but also produced it himself. Soon their wine became popular far beyond the Cape. The beginning of the 20th century was a new stage for production: the leading South African wine-makers united in an alliance (KWV). This cooperative controlled the quality of wine produced, fixed prices and set quotas. The success of wine production in South Africa contributed not only to the diligence of winemakers, but also other factors:

excellent climate and fertile land;
use of cold fermentation technology;
the use of classification by origin of wine;
strict control of export wine.
WINDOWS.
Boshendal (Boschendal) – one of the very first wineries in South Africa, which was founded in 1685. The winery is located in the valley Fanhshkhuk, securely guarded mountain ranges. Thanks to the picturesque surroundings, it is very popular among tourists. The vineyards of Boshendal spread over 2.5 km2.

Another “pearl” of wine production is stored in the Stellenbosch region – Brampton Wines. Although the winery Branton can not boast such a respectable age as Boshendal (1996 is considered to be the year of its formation), its wines are very popular.

Speaking of wines from South Africa, one can not forget Tall Horse. Why High Horse? In 1824, a giraffe was a diplomatic gift from the Egyptian Sultan to the king of France. The animal made a crazy sensation among the French, who called it a tall horse. It would be a crime not to take advantage of this popularity for marketing purposes. But not a single name. Tall Horse wine is an unsurpassed combination of Sauvignon grapes, fruit and citrus fruits, the taste of which remains in the mouth for a long time.
