HOW WILL YOU LEARN TO CORRECTLY TASTE WINE?

If you do not take into account the work of professional tasters and critics whose purpose is to evaluate wine, wine tasting for the average person is a practical way to find his wine favorites who will give real pleasure to the taste of the drink. It is worth noting that the criteria that each of us puts the blame, often very different, so you should not rely on other people’s reviews, try it yourself, and we will tell you what points you should pay attention to.

HOW WILL YOU LEARN TO CORRECTLY TASTE WINE?
Let’s go from afar and prepare a glass.

Wineglass.

Vessel in the tasting plays an important role. The completeness of the perception of the bouquet and the taste of the wine will depend on its properly selected shapes and sizes. We use only a clean glass (no trace of dust or detergent) and transparent to assess the color of the product. The walls should rush inward so that the aroma of the wine is not sprayed instantly.

If tasting of several varieties is planned, first choose light varieties (white, pink, sparkling), and continue incrementally. For each grade – its own clean glass. To keep your receptors on alert, between tasting different wines, take a sip of plain water.

Colour.

Uncorked wine is poured into our glass, the thickness of the wine layer is no more than 3 cm. Let us estimate the richness of its color by directing the glass to a light or white background (a background of paper also suits the background). The color scheme will tell not only about belonging to one or another type of drink, but also about its age: growing up, white wine acquires a rich golden color, while red – vice versa. Young red wine has a rich ruby color, old samples are transformed into a yellowish-brown color. It should be noted that the color of wine has almost no effect on its taste, being more “delight” for our eyes.

Aroma.

Before sipping a drink, shake it, holding the jar by the leg. This allows you to feel the fullness of the bouquet of the instance, because while stirring all the flavors are activated. If on the general background, an alcoholic smell is excessively released, then either you have a poor-quality drink in your hands, or you need to cool it a few degrees.

Taste.

Having successfully completed the preparatory stage, we proceed directly to the tasting itself. The first sip is small, do not swallow the wine at once, support it in your mouth, gently rolling like a ripe cherry. Trust your feelings. Evaluation of receptors does not depend on the price of the drink and brand name.

Aftertaste.

Fully appreciate the aftertaste can only swallow the wine. If in front of you are waiting for a few bottles for “testing”, then the prototype must be spit out (the capacity for this purpose must be taken care of before starting). This will keep the mind sober.

Keeping records of tasted wine can be a good habit. This will allow at any time to recall the taste and their impressions.
